To be eligible to register for theCoronal Polishing Course and Caries Prevention (Fluoride Application) Course, you must:

1. Be a graduate of a CODA-accredited dental assisting (DA) program. Not all programs are CODA-accredited.  If you are unsure of your program’s accreditation status, please check the CODA website here: . If your program is not listed on CODA’s website, the program is not CODA-accredited.

OR

2. Been practicing as a chairside dental assistant (direct patient care), in a general dentistry office, for at least 1 year.

Prior to registration, you must:

1. Provide documentation / proof showing that you graduated from a CODA-accredited DA program.
   • Acceptable documentation includes: a copy of your degree/diploma; letter from program director attesting to the fact that you graduated / completed all program requirements; or official transcripts from the institution from which you graduated.

OR

2. Provide documentation / proof showing that you have been a practicing chairside dental assistant (direct patient care), in a general dentistry office, for at least 1 year. You must provide documentation / proof showing that you have been employed exactly as described above.
   • Acceptable documentation includes: a letter written and signed by your dentist employer attesting to the fact that you have been employed exactly as described above. Please note, a letter from the office manager is not acceptable documentation.

The next Coronal Polishing Course and Caries Prevention (Fluoride Application) Course has not yet been scheduled, and no anticipated date is available at this time. The course will be scheduled once we have enough participants and based on faculty availability. To join the CP&F waitlist, please email Suzanna Harrigan at scharrig@iu.edu. Everyone on the waitlist will be notified once a date is set. A minimum of three participants is required for the workshop to run.

1. Be a graduate of a CODA-accredited dental assisting (DA) program or dental hygiene (DH) program. The next Expanded Functions (Restorative) Workshop for Allied Dental Professionals is planned for Summer 2026. The exact schedule has not yet been determined; however, sessions will likely meet on Wednesday evenings, Fridays, and select Saturdays from the end of June 2026 to the beginning of August 2026. Attendance at all sessions is mandatory.

Please note: Registration is processed through IU Conferences and Event Registration, and full payment by credit card is required at the time of registration. Enrollment is limited to 15 participants and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Cancellation requests must be made in writing / emailed to: srschory@iu.edu no later than 3 business days prior to the start of the course.

If participant cancels PRIOR to accessing course material AND no later than 3 business days before the start of the course: full refund MINUS a $100 service charge.

If participant cancels PRIOR to accessing course material BUT cancels only 1-2 business days before the start of the course: full refund MINUS a $150 service charge.

A participant may not cancel on the first day or after the course begins and receive any refund.
